Comments[edit]

Moved from article: This will be the main page on German wine, just starting by collecting the existing links, many of them bits of articles I have added to, and other related stuff. Will also link everything from the German pages, which I assume are more comprehensive (help would be useful as my German is a bit flaky). Oddly the German pages do not have a German wine entry, although there is better coverage of some of the terms. Maybe list these in region sections or seperate page for German wine makers.

Sorry, was while I was putting it together, not so much a stub now... Justinc 22:24, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Süssreserve[edit]

I've proposed to merge in Süssreserve, although there's an argument for merging it with mustFlagSteward 01:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Not really but I replied on the Sussreserve page. It is a German word but it is not an exclusively German wine technique. AgneCheese/Wine 02:03, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Weinkellerei refers to a wine blended by a blender[edit]

I'm sure this is not correct. I believe it refers to wine that is made on the same land where the grapes were grown. Seems like vandalism. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Billz123 (talkcontribs) 06:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC).

A 'Weinkellerei' is a winery. Edited. number29(Talk) 03:16, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Changes made[edit]

I've added the word "wine" to the sentence "Warmer than all other German regions", because most German pages state the Kaiserstuhl in Baden as the warmest German region. The average temp. in the Baden wine region is lower because the wine region of Baden also contains some mountains of the Black Forest, whlie Palatinate is situated in the Rhine Valley. Thoughts on assessment[edit]

I am more incline to agree with this being a B article. It is certainly leaps and bounds better than it was in October when it was reassess as start. Above all, it doesn't appear to be missing any important sections which tilts it firmly to the B side. The only areas of glaring concern would be the lack of referencing in major sections and the tiny winemaking section. There probably could be a section on German wine labels and German wine auctions (or German wine culture) with a summary paragraph and links to the main article. AgneCheese/Wine 23:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

I agree that more references are definitely needed in some parts; I just felt that now it had reached the point where the blanket, article-wide maintenance tag "unclear because of lacking inline citations" was no longer needed. (There would be room for a few "citation needed" tags if anyone questions specific statements.) At this point I thought a B rating would be appropriate. I'm also thinking about how to get the article less list-driven without losing information, and appropriate interfaces with subordinate articles. In the fullness of time, when the ultimate harvest is resting on its lees and so on... Tomas e (talk) 11:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Couldn't we put those lists in a "german wine statistics"-page of some sort? It really does seem like an eyesore with long lists of numbers featured in the main page.--Nwinther (talk) 08:42, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Tautology[edit]

The first sentence needs to be rephrased. Though, I'm not sure what to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by THobern (talkcontribs) 10:15, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, you were right, it looked clumsy and not it's hopefully better. Tomas e (talk) 17:49, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
